S3E4 'What Went Wrong' Recap: Oh my, where do we begin!

First of all, this was by far my favorite episode this season. Could it be because Eli wasn't in it? But seriously, so many great things happened.

Case of the week: Loved it, mainly because the actress who portrayed the defendant was great. Once again, we don't really know if she was guilty or not. If she killed her husband, she could have fooled me. Yet, the jury, or most of it anyway, seemed to think she was guilty. I'd love to find out what happens when the case gets retried but I doubt we'll find out.

Alica/Kalinda: Finally, finally, finally! Let the rekindling begin. I thought that blink-it-and-you'll-miss-it moment when Kalinda smiles for a split second when Alicia says "I'll help" was oddly heartwarming. Neither Alica nor Kalinda are gushy or into big gestures, so I think this their way of hugging it out.

Alica/Will/Peter: Is Alicia cursed? It seems like whichever guy she is most cozy with is being investigated. Despite all the laughs and smiles leading up to it, that final scene with the principal of the private school was a reminder that Peter can be a pretty ruthless guy.

Alicia/Diane: I'll admit that I've always wanted Diane to mentor Alicia and I finally got my wish. Will Will (ha!) feel betrayed now that Alicia not only left him but is BFFs with Diane? Power dynamics and alliances are changing.

Alicia/Owen: We love us some Owen and when he appears major changes almost always ensue. Was anyone surprised to hear Alicia say that she really doesn't love Will? I feel a little cheated considering that we were waiting 2+ years for the two of them to get together. Just like in real life, reality fails to live up to the fantasy.

The Cliffhanger aka Wendy: We did NOT see this coming but in hindsight it makes perfect sense. Where will this development take us? Will Alicia and Peter slowly get back together only for Alicia to once again feel betrayed by Peter and his (alleged) misconduct? If Peter's going down is Cary going with him?

So many questions... Can't wait for the rest of the season!

S3E11 'What Went Wrong' Promo: Kalinda Arrested

This will be the last new episode of 2011! Wonder if Alicia and Kalinda will finally make amends.

Grace is missing? OMFG. Remember no TGW next week. We'll have to wait until December 4...

S3E9 'Whiskey Tango Foxtrot' Recap - Military Time

I have to be honest with you: I'm not a big fan of anything related to the military and this episode was no exception... Also, I'm a bit under the weather so excuse the negativity that permeates the following post.

-I thought the case of the week was unconvincing. I can appreciate a look at sexism in the armed forces or critical look at the consequences of drones but throughout the episode I felt like something was off. I know we're supposed to be left guessing whether she really screwed up or if it was all just a witch hunt but the judge's reaction at the end seemed absurd. Considering the amount of civilian casualties in these endless wars, it seems absurd that a military judge would care about the deaths of some Middle Eastern civilians.

-The B plot about the cheese lobby was also not that great. Cute puns but we all know by now that the government is a slave to corporate interests which I guess was the point of the story. I did enjoy watching Eli getting all depressed about losing a client and Diane having to cheer him up.

-Jackie and Alicia at it again. I almost felt sorry for Jackie but the I remembered: "She's such a bitch." It's also interesting to note how Alicia and Jackie are representative of a big generational divide. Does Jackie really think the kids would be better of with Peter? Doesn't he just work as many hours? If not more? I know he's her son but it's odd that she demonizes Alicia for 'neglecting' the kids when Peter has hardly been a perfect father to them.

-Finally, Diane confronted Will about his relationship with Alicia. I don't think I've ever seen Diane stare someone down like that. She must be really worried about the investigation. How much does she know about Will's past? Also, ouch. When Will hit that pole in frustration, I was expecting his hand to be bruised in the scenes that followed.

The Good Wife is still by far my favorite show on TV but lately it feels like they've been dragging their feet on the Will/Alica storyline. Also, Kalinda needs to do something crazy. At least the next episode looks like it will be quite epic.

S3E8: 'Death Row Trip' Recap

Death Penalty: This episode featured another hot button issue. What if someone raped and killed your child, would they deserve to die? Throughout the episode, Alicia seemed to favor the death penalty until the very end when things with the killer's family got emotional. But then, of course, he revealed his true colors and the moment was ruined to say the least.

Kalinda/Cary: It was cute to see Cary get all jealous when Kalinda started getting cozy with Dana. Kalinda is hard to figure out but when Cary left her hanging in the final scene, it looked like she was fairly upset. Could she actually be in love with him?

Fellating Santa Claus: Ok, this was silly. Even the 'Facebook Generation' would not make a scandal out of a politician's goofy college photos. I mean, he wasn't even facing the camera so how could someone have used it against him?

Won't someone please think of the children: Jackie pretty much ransacked Alicia's apartment in search of used condoms or other proof that Alicia is a horribly neglectful, improper mother. She means well but can't escape the horrible mother-in-law stereotype. It's just a matter of time before Alicia has to put her back in her place...

Overall, this episode felt a bit rushed. Having Eli around kind of ruins the balance of the show because it means that they have to either cut back on Will/Alicia or Kalinda time (or Eli time which is what they did last week). When they try to do it all like with this episode 40 minutes of airtime just aren't enough.

Looks like Will will be getting some unsolicited advice from Diane...

The Good Wife Ratings Update: Flat Despite Move to Sunday

Even though we can smugly say that The Good Wife is one of the most highly acclaimed TV shows on the air right now, we all know that our show has not been setting record ratings and has been in danger of cancellation pretty much since the second half of the first season.

As we mentioned here and here, ratings are just too low compared to the usual CBS fare (CSI: Lunar Eclipse or whatever). Many of us hoped that a move away from the lower-rated 10pm time slot could help the show but unfortunately it hasn't. Ratings so far this season are virtually identical with those of last spring. The editors at TVbytheNumbers.com, who are pretty much the overlords of TV ratings predictions, predict the following:

The Good Wife  :| :| :| 0.63

As you can see the those 3 faces aren't too happy and TGW has ratings 40% below CBS' average. A different chart that uses a slightly different approach lists the show as "likely renewal." Why the difference? Well, when a show completes four season it can be syndicated which means lots of money, so a show isn't likely to be canceled after 3 seasons. But, of course it could still happen.

In my opinion, barring an unexpected drop in ratings in the spring, we'll get a 4th season (2012-2013) but don't expect a 5th season unless ratings pick up significantly.

S3E8: 'Death Row Trip' Sneak Peak - Things Get Real

We all know Will is being investigated and it looks like Kalinda and Will will be getting closer (as mentioned by Archie Panjabi) while Alica and Will are going to have to be more careful... Check out these 3 scenes from tomorrow's all new episode:

Archie Panjabi Talks About Season 3 - Kalinda's Past, Will, Eli, and Reconnecting with Alicia

I came across this Associated Press interview with the lovely Archie Panjabi. She reveals some of the upcoming storylines and it looks like Kalinda will be Will's ally throughout this whole District Attorney's investigation ordeal. Also, she promises that we'll learn more about Kalinda's mysterious past.

S3E08 'Death Row Visit' Promo - Air Date: November 13, 2011

S3E7 'Executive Order 13224' Recap

Yesterday's episode was the first of the season without Eli and it turned out to be one of the best so far. Here are some of my favorite moments:

1. Hey Mom Pick up the Phone: Was it the first episode of the show when they introduced Grace's ringtone? Who would have thought that two years later it would still be so relevant. I really liked the way this scene was written. It was subtle and even though I expected Diane to confront Will immediately, it's nice to have a little bit of tension. Also, Kalinda knows. Could this mean that she and Alicia might finally bury the hatchet? Please?

2. Carrie Preston is back: I'd completely forgotten about her but she really is amazing. Unlike so many other shows out there, TGW has come up with such unique and interesting characters and thankfully isn't above bringing them back again and again. I bet Elisabeth Tascioni would make a great divorce lawyer too...

3. Peter/Will: I was pleasantly surprised that Peter managed to do the right thing and stay out of the whole gambling investigation. In the past, it was always the other way around. Peter was the bad guy and Will the good guy, at least from Alicia's point of view. But it seems that as Will is being backed into a corner he is losing his cool and I have a feeling this won't end well. Also, he should come clean and tell Alicia about his past. Now.

Thoughts?

Julianna Margulies Interview: On Work/Family Balance & Sex Scandals

GlobalTV.com has a great interview with our favorite leading lady, Julianna Margulies. She talks about why the show is flimed in New York instead of Los Angeles and what she thinks about the media coverage of sex scandals like the one Alica went through on the show. Here's an excerpt:

What are you most proud of professionally and personally?
ER was a phenomenon and it was a great thing to be a part of. Proud is a funny word because it sounds so egotistical but I’m very happy to have been a part of it. But my most fulfilling job ever was The Mists of Avalon. I rode horses all my life and I got to ride horses. I was getting paid to ride horses. I grew up in England so I got to have my English accent. I couldn’t believe they were paying me to do that job. I was in heaven.

Archie Panjabi Talks About Her Philanthropic Work

We all may know and love her as Kalinda, the tough-as-nails private investigator, but if you've seen any of Archie Panjabi's movies (I highly recommend the Constant Gardener) you know that there is more to her than her The Good Wife character. Archive works with several different charities and is very concerned with making this a better world. She says that her mother and former co-star Angelina Jolie inspired her to get involved. Check out this Variety article to learn more about the various charities that  Archie has worked with.

Promo for S3E7 - 'Executive Order 13334'

Why do CBS promos always put so much emphasis on the case of the week?

*Major Spoilers* for S3E7 'Executive Order 13224'

TVGuide.com just posted an interesting article about our favorite show. At first glance it may seem like the usual PR fluff but for some reason it looks like it was posted a week to early as there are several allusions to the November 6th episode.

S3E2 - 'The Death Zone' Recap and More!

After a rather slow start last week, TGW seems to be heating up quite a bit. First and foremost:
No one knows Peter and Alicia have split up! Yeah, it was mentioned in passing last week but really who remembers those kinds of details? It appears that the loser in all of this isn't Alicia but Will. After years of fantasizing about each other the two of them are not only forced to keep their love affair a secret but now Diane is making him choose between the firm and Alicia. We know (or at least hope) he would never fire Alicia but we don't see him giving up his firm either... One way or the other, someone's going to get screwed.
In other developments, Kalinda and Eli are working together and it turns out that in many ways they are two of a kind. It will be interesting to see how their working relationship will develop from here on out.
At home, Peter finally admitted to this son that the reason they've split up is that he cheated on Alicia. In a very sweet moment, Zach volunteers to load the dishwasher for his mother, perhaps finally understanding how hart it must be on her.
Finally, there was an onslaught of British accents as the case of the week involved a transatlantic deposition. We love the UK but will refrain from criticizing any of the British actors because frankly those are some scary libel laws they have over there.

Favorite Guest Star: The Barrister, err, the Solicitor who found his voice with the help of Alicia.
Favorite Scene: Will is turned on by Alicia's aggressiveness but sadly the bathroom fornication never happens due to a suspicious Diane.
Meaning of title: Among mountain climbers anything above 26,000 ft is known as the death zone due to the lack of oxygen up there.

We're back!

No, we haven't given up on our favorite TV show but we just had an exceptionally busy 6 months! Now that things have calmed down a bit and with the all new season starting to heat up, we plan to once again post regular updates on The Good Wife. Stay tuned.

The Good Wife Ratings: Getting Worse, Could Get Canceled

Photo: CBS
Late last year, we wrote about The Good Wife's ratings and how they were lower than last year, only averaging about 2.3 in the 18-49 demo. Unfortunately things have not been improving. In fact, the latest episode 'Plan B' only got a 1.9 rating which is VERY low for CBS and if the show weren't so critically acclaimed no one would expect it to return next year. So what might happen? The show might get renewed and be moved to one of the 'low expectations' time slots (Friday possibly). Or CBS might give the show a 13-episode order to see if ratings improve next fall. Or the show might get canceled. It's a shame really that advertisers discriminate against older people because the show almost always ranks as a top 25 most-watched show but doesn't attract enough younger viewers to be attractive to advertisers. Is it time to start a 'Save The Show' campaign or is it too late already?

Sarah Silverman To Guest Star on The Good Wife

Well, this is kind of surprising: According to the Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel, hilarious but controversial comedian Sarah Silverman will be making a guest appearance on The Good Wife! Haven't been able to find out any more information but I'm curious to see what kind of role she'll play. Will it be something silly? Serious?  (JSonline.com)

Josh Charles is Technologically-Challenged

Josh Charles may be a dreamboat but he is no tech genius. Check out this funny clip of Josh's appearance on Regis & Kelly:

All New The Good Wife Tomorrow March 29th: "Killer Song" (S2E18)

After last week's big reveal and both Michelle and Robert King pointing out that the secret will come out sooner rather than later, I can barely stand to wait another day for the next episode. CBS also just posted the latest trailer for tomorrow's episode:

Apparently, Kalinda and Peter will try to figure this mess out. I wonder who will tell Alicia. My money's on Kalinda but then again it should really be Peter since he's MARRIED to her. Also, if Peter and Alicia split up and his career goes under, it is entirely possible that we might not see Chris Noth return next year.

CBS also posted some pictures from the episode and it looks like Diane will be defending America Ferrera's character, you know, the one that Eli has a huge crush on. Check out the rest of the pictures here.

Last but definitely not least: The Good Wife writers will be tweeting updates live throughout tomorrow's episode. So if you're on the East Coast and want to learn more about the writers and their thoughts on the episode, follow GoodWifeWriters on Twitter.

'Ham Sandwich' (S2E17): Kalinda's Secret, Will's Past and Black vs. White

Pants on fire! (Photo: CBS)
I've been a little under the weather, so I apologize for not posting this sooner. Anyway, "Ham Sandwich" definitely did NOT disappoint, though I have to admit not for the reasons that I expected.

Kalinda's Secret: She slept with Peter and he helped her change her identity? To be honest, I was expecting something entirely different. I thought maybe she killed someone or was married to a mobster. So at first, I was a little disappointed. But then I realized what an interesting new conflict this creates. Just when Alicia is getting ready to let Peter back into her life, it seems like his cheating and lying might destroy not only their relationship but could also derail his political career which is already on shaky grounds. Of course, it is also heartbreaking to see Kalinda and Alicia growing more chummy only to realize what a big fat liar Kalinda's been all along. I am actually tempted to go back and watch every episode of the show again, just to say if maybe it might explain some of Kalinda's behavior.

Will's Sordid Past: Back when Diane and Will were trying to outmaneuver each other for control of the firm's client list, it was revealed that Will and Blake shared some sort of deep dark secret. We still don't know much about it but it must be really bad because Will was mighty pissed. What will most likely happen is that an angry and betrayed Alicia will seek out Will for comfort and intimacy, only to learn that he too has been lying to her all this time. Which means that, yet again, viewers will not see the two live happily ever after.

Racism in Politics: It's good to know that there is at least one show left on the air that isn't afraid to 'go there.' Yes, even in a big city like Chicago racism is still an issue. Though Eli may not be a racist himself, his ambitions did not prevent him from trying to keep the black folks away from Peter's campaign. It was sad to see the expression on Zach's girlfriend when she suspected that indeed it was her race that might be causing trouble in the Florrick household. In the end, it was satisfying to see Alicia stand up not only to Eli but also to the racist political establishment he represents.

I'm curious to see how quickly things will unravel from this point. There are only 6 episodes left this season and we still don't know if the show will be back next year. Since the show might end, I wonder if Robert and Michelle King will try to wrap up all the storylines or if they'll go for a cliff-hanger that might never be resolved.

Mad Men Star Aaron Staton to Appear on The Good Wife, Plus Mamie Gummer Will Be Back!

The Good Wife is well-known for its high-caliber guest stars and it looks like they may have landed another good one. Aaron Staton who stars in the critically-acclaimed show "Mad Men" will be appearing in a May sweeps episode, according to TV Fanatic.
Also, one of our favorite characters on TGW will be back: Meryl Streep's daughter, Mamie Gummer will be back as "aw-shucks" Nancy Crozier. So far it's Nancy 0, Lockhart/Gardner 2. Will she finally win a case this time?

Scott Porter (Blake) Joins New CW TV Show "Hart of Dixie"

Photo: CBS
Scott Porter's character on The Good Wife is probably the most hated guy on the show. We may dislike Bond's smugness or Eli's scheming but it is Blake who makes our blood boil! Well, I guess we won't have to worry about him next season (if indeed the show will even get a third season) because Scott has just landed a role on an upcoming TV show on the CW. Since CBS has a 50% stake in the CW, there is of course a possibility for a guest appearance or two but let's just hope they'll keep him away from TGW. (EW.com)

Check Out Latest Trailer for "Ham Sandwich" (S2E17); Kalinda Facing Jail Time?

CBS just released a preview for next week's episode. Looks like Alica will be defending Kalinda as she faces criminal charges. But why is Blake still around? Shouldn't he be back in DC now that Bond is no longer part of the law firm?

No New 'The Good Wife' Tonight (March 15): Back With All New Eps Next Week!

Unfortunately, The Good Wife is still in repeats and CBS will be re-airing 'Breaking Fast' tonight, which originally aired back on October 12. Next week, however, on March 22 (time flies!) the show will be back with an all new episode called "Ham Sandwich." Check out this post for more information about the episode.

LA Times Takes a Look at the Politics of The Good Wife

Photo: CBS
The Good Wife is getting quite a bit of press as we are heading towards the end of the season. The latest article, published yesterday, looks at the show's inclusion of current political events and how they make the show stand out. It shouldn't come as a surprise then that the writers of TGW rely heavily on news websites to shape the stories they want to tell:
"The Kings and their seven staff writers comb the headlines daily in search of ideas for the show. They say they tend to favor Web-based outlets like Politico, Talking Points Memo, Daily Kos and the Drudge Report." (LA Times)
The author of the article, Meredith Blake,  also claims that the show has a "liberal perspective." I don't know if I would necessarily agree with that since the characters on the show seem to mainly focus on what can win the case, not what is right or wrong. What do you think?

Meet Beth Kushnick: The Good Wife Set Designer

I wouldn't mind living in Alica's apartment. Her place is amazing, with a spacious kitchen and a cozy living room. It's easy to forget how much work goes into making TV shows look so polished, especially all the work that viewers barely notice, like picking out the right curtains that look good on camera but don't clash with the rest of the interior.
Beth Kushnick who's the set designer for The Good Wife is featured on the Christie's Interior website and she describes the process of decorating a new set:
The start of a new project or new set is such a thrill. With construction completed we dressed the Chicago apartment on the set of The Good Wife in about 48 hours. I actually think the speed with which we worked helped us to focus our decisions. I shop Christie’s Interiors monthly auctions to build a store of items to have on-hand; we are always working with a deadline. (Christie's)
48 hours! Wow. Can you imagine fully, and beautifully, decorating your home in just two days? Check out the rest of the article at Christies.com. The article also has some nice pictures of the TGW sets.

Pictures from S2E18 "Killer Song" - Sam Robards Guest Stars and Eli's Daughter Returns

CBS just released some promotional pictures from an upcoming episode of The Good Wife called "Killer Song." Even though the pictures don't give away any particular storyline, we do know that one of the actors in the pictures is Sam Robards who's acting credits include appearances on Gossip Girl, Spin City and Sex and the City.

Also, it looks like Eli Gold's daughter will be spending some time with her dad and from the look on his face, he's not too happy about it.

The Good Wife Returns on March 22nd: 'Ham Sandwich' - S2E17

Photo: CBS
For those of you hoping that The Good Wife would be back next week, I have bad news. It'll be another week of repeats before all new episodes return on March 22nd. Check out a brief summary of the episode below from a CBS press release (via SpoilerTV):
Lockhart Gardner law firm represents client and drug kingpin Lemond Bishop in divorce proceedings, even though Bishop wants reconciliation. Meanwhile, Kalinda is subpoenaed for a grand jury investigation. (CBS)
Sounds like the shizzle is about to hit the fan for Kalinda.

Matt Czuchry Talks About His Favorite City: Chareston, SC

Photo: CBS
Matt Czuchry was recently interviewed by the Chicago Tribune and mentioned being bi-coastal. The Good Wife, unlike most other TV shows, is shot in New York with LA still the primary home base of most Hollywood actors. While Czuchry likes both cities, he professes that his favorite city is actually Charleston, South Carolina:
I went to college in Charleston, so the city is filled with beautiful memories, experiences and friends. It's truly one of my favorite places in the world, because it's colored by so many moments that are close to my heart. (Chicago Tribune)
Check out the rest of his interview here.

Archie Panjab Headed to Harvard

Photo: CBS
If you live in New England and you want to get a chance to see Archie Panjab who portrays Kalinda on The Good Wife, you're in luck. She will be stopping by Harvard University this Thursday to talk to students about her acting career. Though this article states that the event is free for students of the Ivy League school, it is not entirely clear whether the event is open to the public.

The Good Wife Fashion Tips - Style Watch with Daniel Lawson

If you're really into fashion and have been wondering about some of the items featured on the show, you should definitely check out this blog on CBS.com which features The Good Wife wardrobe designer Daniel Lawson.
In the latest installment he answers some questions regarding Diane's coat and Rita Wilson's wardrobe. I was really surprised to learn how many people work in the wardrobe department:
In addition to myself on the design end, I have two assistants, two production assistants, a department coordinator and a couple of interns. On the set, the wardrobe department is represented by a wardrobe supervisor - I have two and they alternate episodes, evens and odds - and three full time key set costumers, two who work with the principle actors and one who works with the background players. Additional set costumers are put on as needed. I also have a full time tailor who helps with the fittings and does alterations. (Style Watch)

Alan Cumming Interview: Bisexuality, US vs. Britain

The Republic just interviewed Alan Cumming, who plays Eli Gold on The Good Wife, and asked him about some of his views on having US citizenship, being bisexual and gay rights in general. He doesn't really talk about TGW but it is an insightful interview nonetheless. [The Republic]

Who Are Robert & Michelle King? LA Times Takes a Look at Showrunner Couples

You're probably aware of the fact that Robert & Michelle King are creators/writers/executive producers for The Good Wife. They are not, however, brother and sister, they are a married couple. If you've ever wondered what it must be like to run a successful network TV show with your spouse, you should definitely read this article by the LA Times. Though there are a few mistakes in it (it says that TGW is returning next season for its second season), it's an interesting read nonetheless.

'Great Firewall' (S2E16): Thoughts, Quotes & More

My predictions for last night's episode weren't all that accurate. There was a legal case that was featured very prominently and Bond did indeed get kicked out. Though we probably haven't seen the last of him.

The Case: I liked the case mainly because it addressed a business vs. human rights question that is hardly ever talked about in this age of globalization. Also, once again, Alicia had to come to terms with the fact that sometimes people do the right thing for the wrong reasons. I felt bad for her because clearly Will (and Diane's) decision to use this case to help out his new billionaire client, brought her back to reality and reminded her that maybe she and Will wouldn't be such a great couple after all.

Also, what's with Viola Walsh (Rita Wilson's character) offering Alicia a position? Was that just to throw us off track because it looked like Will and Diane were going to lose against Bond?

The Vote: Boy, they really had me thinking it was all over and Will and Diane were going to lose but it was all planned, of course. They had to get Bond to think that he was safe so he wouldn't go after that one vote they needed. Lockhart/Gardner and Bond no more!

Change of address: Alica and Kalinda had a nice moment together. Soon they'll be total BFFs. I'm worried about the whole investigation though and was also surprised to see Cary and Kalinda kiss but it was bound to happen. Is another change of identity in order for Kalinda? Or will she find a way to get out of this mess? Perhaps by pointing them to Blake? One can only hope.

Here's a clip of the most satisfying scene from the episode. Enjoy!

New The Good Wife tonight! Predictions, expectations for "Great Firewall" (S2E16)?

Will he or Will he not? Photo credit: CBS/The Good Wife
I doubt I'm the only person here who is VERY excited for tonight's episode of The Good Wife. I'm pretty sure that the show will go on a brief hiatus until April so I wouldn't be surprised if this episode ended with a small cliffhanger. So what do we know about tonight's episode after watching the trailer?

-The vote is definitely happening tonight!
-Bond is trying to 'censure and dismiss' Diane
-Will and Diane barely have enough votes

I think it's safe to assume that this episode's legal case (if there will even be one) will not be featured prominently. Also, Alicia and Kalinda will probably be involved in some B plot that none of us will remember tomorrow. The trailer also seems to show Will raising he's hand after Bond calls for the vote. I think that is a red herring. Josh Charles and Christine Baranski are serious regulars Michael Ealy who plays Derrick Bond isn't, meaning that ultimately Diane and Will must come out victorious.

But that, of course, does not mean that everything will be resolved in this episode. Maybe Bond will temporarily win but disappear by the end of the season. After all, the whole Kalinda/Blake situation has not been resolved which would suggest that Bond and his crew aren't about to disappear completely. Unless, of course, all of this gets resolved in tonight's episode. We'll just have to wait and see... What are your theories? Do you think this is the last episode for Bond and his rather shady business associates?

Extended Promo for S2E16: "The Great Firewall"

So we all know that the marketing department tends to go a little overboard when it comes to promos, i.e. editing together meaningful glances and shocked faces to make a scene look more dramatic, but I think next week's episode might actually live up the promo below.

Yes, we will indeed see whether Will and Diane's plan to kick out bond will be successful or whether the whole thing will blow up in their faces. My guess is that ultimately Bond is going to leave but I'd be surprised if it was as simple as voting him out...

All New The Good Wife Tonight!

After taking a week of, The Good Wife will be back tonight with an all new episode entitled: Silly Season. Check out a brief summary below (via Zap2it.com):

Cary's team looks to challenge Alicia's client's murder confession; Wendy Scott-Carr makes threats in an effort to get Peter to drop out of the race.

Julianne Margulies Has A Potty Mouth!

The way people talk on TV is so overly sanitized that we sometimes forget that actors can say naughty words too. Well, Julianna was a guest on Ellen yesterday and in the excitement of the game went a little overboard. Watch the hilarious clip below!

TGW wins Dorian Award for best drama!

The Gay and Lesbian Entertainment critics awards has just announced their winners and TGW was crowned TV drama of the year. The show was praised for its non-stereotypical portrayal of a gay character. Congrats to the cast and crew! Find out more at OnTopMag.com

Two Courts: Lies, Pushy Mothers, Micro-Expressions and Scientology

I'm still reeling from the events that transpired on yesterday's episodes of The Good Wife. Here are some of my thoughts:

-Kalinda comes out on top! For a minute there Kalinda got very quiet. I mean who could blame her? But in the end, of course, she managed to not only get a $50,000 (!) raise but also pledged her allegiance to team Will. Not that it really matters anymore.

-Diane/Will reconcile: Wow! This completely caught me off guard. Just when you though Lockhart/Gardner was donzo, Will realizes that he is being played, much like Diane was being played. Though I would have loved to see a Diane/Kalinda/Alicia firm, it won't happen anytime soon.
-Alica, of course, would have stayed with Will. Really, in retrospect it makes total sense. I mean she didn't leave her husband who had 'extramarital relations,' so why the hell would she betray what appears to be her closest, and possibly only, friend.
-Even though I find Jackie, Peter's mom, a difficult character to like, I felt bad for her yesterday when Peter told her to leave.
-I liked the court case but thought the whole biased judge storyline was unnecessary. I did, however, like that last scene when the jury member tells Alicia the reason for the guilty verdict. Once again, we were reminded that our heroine isn't always fighting for what's right but ultimately fights for what pays her bills.
-If Cary gets his deal with Diane I will stop watching the show! There's no way he should get more money than Alicia!

Michael J. Fox returns to 'The Good Wife'

I don't know whether it's the fact that The Good Wife is filmed in New York City or maybe it's because the show is critically-acclaimed but they've done a great job attracting the highest caliber of guest stars lately. We already wrote about America Ferrera, star of Ugly Betty, who will be guesting on the show but now word on the street is that Michael J. Fox will be back! Check out the link below to see who else will be guest starring on the show:

Two Courts: Watch Trailer for Tonight's All New Episode

Can't wait for this episode. Looks like Carey might join Diane's firm. Does this mean that Alicia will stay with Will? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Ugly Betty Guest Starring on The Good Wife

Ugly Betty star America Ferrera will be joining TGW for a couple of episodes. According to M&C, she will be playing a graduate student who will mix up things with Eli. Sounds interesting. What could possibly shake up the unflappable Eli?

'Breaking Up' - The Reviews Are In!

Meredith Blake of the LA Times points out something that I've noticed myself: "Why does everyone on this show say 'phone' instead of 'call'?  It's a trifling detail, but it drives me crazy."
Maybe it's a Chicago thing? Other than that Blake wasn't impressed with the B-plot aka Leelee Sobieski and the whole prisoner's dilemma thing but noticed that there seem to be a prevailing contemplative mood throughout the episode.

Ken Tucker over at EW.com liked the episode but also pointed out that it was one of the few episodes that features a fairly passive Alicia. In fact, she hardly did anything after Will and Diane arrived. It was interesting to see her observe Will, obviously thinking about the choice she will have to make soon. We all know by now that Will can be a ruthless lawyer (Alicia is certainly no angel either) but this episode definitely featured a dark, unsympathetic Will, perhaps even surprising Alica who got fairly emotional toward the end of the episode..

'Breaking Up' - What did you think about last night's episode?

After a whole month without any new TGW episodes, the show finally returned last night with one of the best episodes so far this season! After a lot of hush-hush talk about Diane starting a new firm, everything is now out in the open and Alicia will now have to decide, whether to go with Diane or stay loyal to Will. I personally would like to see her join Diane, mainly because it would provide the show with a interesting new dynamic and it would be interesting to see how it would affect Will and Alicia's personal relationship.
However, my favorite part about yesterday's episode was the return of Alica's brother, Owen. He seems to be the only character on the show who can reliably pierce Alicia's bullet-proof facade. Hopefully, he'll stick around for a couple of weeks.
The case itself was interesting too. The prisoner's dilemma has been featured on pretty much every cop show but I liked the final twist with the pregnancy and his confession.
Thoughts?

TGW Cast at Paley Center in NYC

Check out this cool interview with the cast of the Good Wife that I found on YouTube. Judging from the comments made by cast members it was probably filmed last spring before many of the current events unraveled by it is interesting nonetheless, especially seeing how the cast interacts in real life.
